EIG's Real Potential
If money is the mother's milk of politics, then EIG and the Reagan Renaissance are the antidotes, maybe the only effective antidotes for the socialistic Kool-aid that Americans have been forced to swallow. Gokhale and Smetters give us a glimpse of the insurmountable economic challenges mandated by socialism in less than a decade. The turning of whole categories of Americans into partial parasites began with the New Deal and accelerated dramatically during the Great Society. In past periods of crisis or hard times, Americans were able to call on the largest historical stores of saved economic and human capital that ever existed. No people in history have ever worked harder or better until the dumbing down of Americans began during the Fifties. As for current reserves, the past two decades have witnessed America's passing from the world's largest creditor to the world's largest debtor during the largest, and potentially worst, credit induced inflationary boom in history. Credit has valid uses, but no nation has ever borrowed itself into prosperity.
According to the US Comptroller General it is naive to believe that it is possible to grow the economy sufficiently to pay the accruing, but unfunded liabilities of both Social Security and Medicare. Congress has increased the amount of income subject to the tax almost 40 times and increased the tax rate more than 25 times. Even if one accepted the repugnant idea that it would be desirable, realistic analysis shows that we passed the threshold where it would have been possible to balance tax increases and benefit cuts to make these programs economically viable the minute that Medicare was signed into law. Even before the end of the Depression, Ludwig Von Mises, foremost of the Austrian economists, predicted that civilization will come to an end unless we come to our senses and have the will to abandon socialism. President Reagan did not have access to all the information available today, but a "Time for Choosing" reflects his growing recognition of Von Mises's conclusion. The economic problems posed by socialism cannot be solved. Progressive impoverishment leads inevitably to complete economic collapse. Political "solutions" only postpone the collapse by alternating and distributing the impoverishment between different groups
Fortunately, the only real solution is also the only Constitutional solution; socialism in America must be ended. There are several political obstacles to overcome. Far too many ordinary Americans have bought into the seductive myths of socialism including the delusion that at some point we have all earned the right to have our medical care paid for by others regardless of the cost. As the sponsors of socialism, most of the incumbent political class is composed of members that either lack the will or the desire to limit, let alone, end socialism. The Reagan Renaissance, named for the major author and its anticipated results, is precisely targeted at surmounting these hurdles.
Rush, you are truly a great American. Few have done more to preserve what little we have left of our freedoms and the Constitutional Republic given to us by the Founders. While it might seem ungrateful to ask more from someone who has already done so much, it does not seem unreasonable to ask the best when threatened by the worst. In spite of several different moving parts, and in spite of being a plan designed to solve an 'unsolvable" problem, the Reagan Renaissance is surprisingly simple, straight forward and easily initiated. As much as I trust your judgment, I would seriously doubt that it can be effectively executed by anyone other than yourself. Let's take a closer look at the background and content of the Reagan Renaissance.
