Date with Destiny
Unless you believe that we have taken complete leave of our collective senses,
by now you have either agreed or are considering the possible merits of what you
have read. It is as certain as night follows day. Either the people of the
United States are going to restore the Constitution and end socialism, or
socialism is going to end the United States. It is not necessary for you to take
our word for it.
There is no ambiguity in history or the opinions of reliable experts. Living with socialism is analogous to ignoring a little touch of cancer or experimenting with heroin. There are no happy endings. The fall of Rome ushered in "a thousand years of darkness." If Reagan is right, it can happen again. What you have just seen is a plan that offers a chance to restore our Constitutional Republic before the unfunded and unfundable liabilities of Medicare and its other evil socialistic cousins threaten us with bankruptcy. It requires nothing more than good men doing what they know to be right. Remembering Burke, you already know what happens when good men do nothing.
Ronald Reagan is the actual architect of what has been dubbed in these pages as the Reagan Renaissance. If you read Reagan's speeches carefully, every element is there except for the mechanism of funding the campaigns of our Reagan Wing candidates. Have you ever seen any plan that has a greater potential for restoring the Constitution? No one will have to win the support of millions of people or raise millions of dollars in order to successfully launch this effort. We only need to convince one man, Rush Limbaugh. With Rush on board, at least half the battle to restore the Constitution will have been won. Some conservatives might be skeptical about entrusting Rush with this kind of political power. It is true that Rush is a natural fit for Excellence in Golf, but we did not choose Rush for this task; President Reagan did.
If you have any reservations, think back to that campaign speech on that oh so long ago memorable night in 1964. Ronald Reagan was a just a movie actor with a pretty face. Although you could not tell it from Reagan's speech, Barry Goldwater was actually the candidate who was running for President that night. The Great Society was still just a trial balloon. Ronald Reagan did not relish politics or like politicians, but there was a reason why he felt the urgent need to get involved. As should be plainly evident by now, unlike President Reagan, neither you nor Rush have to even consider entering politics in order to make the Reagan Renaissance a reality. It has been more than forty years since that historic night when a true patriot delivered what is unquestionably the most important speech since the Gettysburg Address. Listen carefully to the immortal words of RONALD WILSON REAGAN.
