Methods
Data for the period 1980-2002 was generally obtained from the PGA Tour Stats web pages. Data for each player in the top 150 players and for each year was downloaded, copied and then pasted into a summary spreadsheet which was then graphically displayed. The player who was first in each category for each year is identified as "Best". The player in or tied for position 150 is identified as "Worst". Average or mean is the average of the top 150 players on the PGA tour and includes the "best" and the "worst" from above. The Median also includes the "best" and the "worst". Means and medians, both annual and cumulative may be displayed in some graphs. Where important, the definitions used by the PGA are provided. The links below allow you to view or download the actual spreadsheets from which all the graphs were created. Or feel free to download and create your own spreadsheets from the PGA web site. Data from the years 1930-1980 is taken from other web sites and analyzed and displayed in identical fashion. I have provided links to the web sites on other pages where the source data may be accessed or you can contact me by email for copies of the spreadsheets that I used for my analysis of specific tournaments or tournament periods.
